Originally from Concarneau, Laurent Galliot is a French artist born in 1965.
The artist’s canvases irradiates the energy of New York city, one of his main sources of inspiration, buildings, flags and yellow taxes are always present in his pieces.”I started painting New York even before I went there for the first time” he says. “When I visited the city, it was like a revelation to me”. The painter does not get lost in the details, he seeks to capture the movement and the mood of the place. He incorporates pieces of newspapers in his compositions in order to create a graphic effect and to give substance to his pieces in color or in black and white.
This self taught artist has painted as well portraits of icons of the cinema and sports such as Grace Kelly, Clint Eastwood, Marilyn Monroe and Rafael Nadal. Some of them have been sold in auctions for charities such as “the Friends of Lebanon”.
The artist’s work is part of several galleries along the French Riviera thanks to Didier Deschamps. In Spring, he was selected for the prestigious Contemporary Art Show of Monaco.
